How it works
We start from your gross annual salary and subtract the four things that come out of a typical W-2 paycheck: federal income tax (using the 2026IRS brackets and standard deduction), Social Security (6.2% up to the wage base), Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% above the high-earner threshold), and your state income tax. What's left is your estimated take-home pay.
